SENOIR RESIDENCY pt II REFLECTION #1
I made this in response to the readings and the promt questions because being curious suportive and creative is the same as making magic when it matters most. And to me it is just as powerful as an astroid hurling towards earth. Holding yourself to kindness and dignity even during scary, vulnrable, painful moments when nobody is watching, come out being the most life changing. So remember to be the astriod hitting earth when nobody is watching. I also felt that even if an ast

SENOIR RESIDENCY FINAL REFLECTION
I have learned so much about preparedness, managing time, personal stresses, and my own creativity. Overall, I have grown so much, not just this semester but throughout all of 2025. This may have been one of the most impactful years of my life. Made a curated museum of artwork on my cast with nothing else to do. This is the recreation of that museum. This semester taught me that no matter what, I will always have something to make, always something to do better, everything wi

The Chaos Machine Chapter #12
I chose to circle back to one of my pieces I made for the second reading reflection and recreate it, hopefully with an even stronger message. Just feeling all consumed by social media and phones. It truly does feel like there is no control in our lives anymore, and I want to make an effort to change that. Sorry, Dr. Jae, this is a long one. I had a lot on my mind with this. Really, I had no idea what social media and algorithms in digital spaces were doing, uprooting whole c

The Chaos Machine Chapter #11
I call this the digital chaos spiderweb, representing the digital platforms that somehow connect one topic to the next, and so on, driving viewers into a network of extremist videos and content that traps people in it. The idea that metrics and incentives for viewership and likes on digital platforms might be creating a structural bias towards extremism is no longer just an idea. YouTube, as an example platform, recommends gateway videos for mothers concerned about the healt

Collins writes: "At one time, the pandemic regulated most of our social interactions to the Facebooks of the world whose platforms are all algorithmically designed to curate our media diets to represent the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors of people like us. The content that our people share essentially acts as receipts of community membership, including everything from political affiliation to sports fandom. Therefore, the extent to which we are introduced to new ideas, new

1. The Digital Wellness Contradiction: Fisher describes how Silicon Valley's "time well spent" movement allowed companies to rebrand themselves as champions of digital wellness while continuing to refine the same engagement-maximizing technologies that created the problems they claimed to address. Critically analyze this response in terms of both corporate ethics and effective solutions. Is this simply corporate hypocrisy, or does it reveal deeper contradictions in Silicon Va

Digital Nihilism & Desensitization — How can systematic desensitization online transform rhetoric into real-world violence? Any historical parallels? At some point viewing acts of violence or participating in violent speech online will eventually seep through the cracks into the real world. The more people are fed violence and incentives to take action online, especially if it is consistent everyday use, combined with the human nature for moral outrage, people will act. From

For The Culture Chapter #6
I made this mixed-media piece to showcase my undying love for the Beyhive and my commitment to Beyoncé and Solange since I was a little kid. Discovering Beyoncé and then rap and hip-hop culture through Jay-Z, and the true artistry of Solange, is so much of who I am. It doesn't matter how I'm perceived to the outside world; I am a Diva, I am that girl, I am a boss, I can do whatever, even with a broken leg I can't be stopped. As Beyonce puts it "I am the Dragon Breathing Fire.

(Improving my PhotoShop skills) It becomes risky when brands start to take full control of influencer content because then it might as well just be a an advertisement from the brand itself. It looses the authenticity of the person or influencer behind it. The purpose of the influencer is to connect with their following base that would align best with whatever product is being sold and can continue to connect with that influencer. Someone should want to buy the product being s

For The Culture Chapter #5
Doing research/homework online to find the truth about what is happening in our world is a risky situation. For the Culture brings up points that people are choosing to trust what is shared online over news outlets. I am not saying one is more reliable then the other but facebook web forums and online groups are not fact checked. So it is basically up to you and what you want to believe based on how it makes you feel. When government has more control over media and it is mor

For The Culture Chapter #4
The four ritualized practices of possession, exchange, grooming, and divergence are ways individuals rework meanings into their identities. As I have grown and percieved the world, one thing i decided a very long time ago was the accessories and jewelry were important. For no specific reason other then when girls and guys had jewelry that mad noise and worked to elevate their outfits I would just notice them. Those were the people that I thought stood out, and I wanted to be

Gary Vee provides many examples of content, the ones that resonated with me the most were mascots and content with multiple actions at once. I think multiple actions at once are great for viewership engagement based on my own personal interactions with social media, and mascots are fun to me. After going through Team Yellows social medias, theres a lot that can be worked on. Number one they need a Tik Tok and they need better clarification between the three accounts, Team Ye

COMPLEX. A company based in culture and not just a magazine but a hub for cultural curation. Collecting sneaker heads and artist fandoms into one following. People want to know what is up right now, what is hip, who is going to be the prominent artist to listen to this year? What shoe is going to be for the fashion girls, and which brand has the line of the century that we all just need? COMPLEX has the mic in hand to share all of this and more with the world, influencing you

Businesses that post content solely focusing on trends in an attempt to go viral, without showcasing their offerings to consumers, often get lost in the vast sea of mass-produced content on social media. That's why posting with a strategic view in mind can help increase a business's visibility. Posting every other day or creating a specific day of the week for a special segment, and maintaining this consistency. That is one example of a strategy a business or brand can utiliz

Business leaders who are grounded in their personal beliefs not only shape the ideologies of an organization but it is those core beliefs that run an organization. The day-to-day life of employees can be dictated by the core beliefs of the organization's leaders. The narrative that a company's CEO follows and how they view the world will likely reflect on how the company operates. How employees interact with each other, who is hired, and what credentials are considered, a com

For The Culture Chapter 1
Whether adopted or inherited, identity markers become how a person presents themselves to the world; even if not realized, these markers will show through to the world subconsciously. In how we dress ourselves, and in the people we surround ourselves with. As a person's identity develops, what they choose to identify with or align themselves with may involve people rethinking their entire belief systems as new identity markers they adopt conflict with inherited beliefs, often

DTA : On page 76, the author states that 3 in 4 TV-owning households have smart TVs. How do you typically watch content, and how does the device (mobile vs. TV) affect your perception of ads? I typically watch long-form content, such as movies or YouTube videos, on my computer. I don't watch TV, so I don't get ads from streaming services or from cable. Most ads come from YouTube or while scrolling through Instagram. If they are from YouTube, I don't pay much attention to them

Reading Reflection #3 The Alchemist
When his goal was just in reach, Santiago realized that the journey is as important, if not more, than the end goal. He sees that his personal legend was not to obtain physical treasures, but the journey he took to get them. And everything he learned about himself and the world along the way became treasures in their own right. I chose to draw the life cycle of a butterfly because, in a way, it has its own legend. To be a caterpillar, and to adapt and grow into a beautiful bu

Currently, financial interests have heavily outweighed ethics in shaping social media, which is a key reason why society is attached to their socials like a toxic relationship. Ethics should play a much larger role in the adaptations of these platforms, but I question whether it is even possible for companies behind these platforms to give up 5% of their profits for ethics. There have been plenty of opportunities for ethics to be taken seriously in Silicon Valley, 20 years' w
