DTA & The Chaos Machine Reading Reflection #8

(Improving my PhotoShop skills)

It becomes risky when brands start to take full control of influencer content because then it might as well just be a an advertisement from the brand itself. It looses the authenticity of the person or influencer behind it. The purpose of the influencer is to connect with their following base that would align best with whatever product is being sold and can continue to connect with that influencer. Someone should want to buy the product being shared because they can be more of who they want to be, or feel more connected with the influencer. Thats why they are called influencers in the first place. I think Emma Chamberlain since her early days on youtube did a great job of authenticity with crap Eyewear and was then able to create her own brand, Chamberlin Coffee Co. and continue to influence and connect with people. She did it so well she interviews people at the met gala now.

Now there are influencers everywhere all over Tik Tok with random brand sponsors that don't align with the person creating content and thats when it starts to feel fake.

I would relate super posters to a monsoon.

e. If every day feed is already a flood, then super posters are washing away houses and leaving no room for other platforms to grow. Constantly getting to the front of everyone’s feed with a majority of negative information and pushing ideals and agendas on people.

If platforms aren’t going to take charge and stop this flood of nonsense information that has disrupted real-life communities, then who will?

Social media influences people into mob mentality on a grandiose scale, though I am not sure it ever left.

I drew the next image to represent a wave of blood coming through, breaking glass and our phone screens, and entering our everyday lives. Super posters are leading people to have a hive mind and come for blood, not just on social media but in real life. Posting calls to action for the spread of misinformation and ending lives for it, too.
